Our Annual Hockey Outing will be on March 29th, 2013 at Kwings Stadium. This game is the Kwings last home game before the playoffs start. Our goal is to sell 150 tickets, we get all of Section 10 which is a great spot right near center ice. We'll be doing chuck a puck which gives you a chance to win some cash, a 50/50 raffle, and we'll be raffling off an autographed Kwings Hockey Stick during the second intermission. Tickets are $16 for adults and $13 for children and being a Friday night hotdogs are $1 at the game as well as $2 domestic pint beers. It's a great time, lots of fun and of course the proceeds benefit Van Buren County Firefighters and Medical Responders in time of need.
Last year the Foundation raised just shy of $7,000 through events and fund raisers like our Hockey night and our Annual Golf outing, with those funds we donated over $4,200 to local fire and EMS personnel as well as the Great Lakes Burn Camp.

About Us
Harold Curtis Jr. was a dedicated member of the Lawrence Township Emergency Services as well as the Columbia Township Fire Department. Harold served as Lieutenant for Lawrence Township for several years and was in the process of becoming an EMT; he was a Chief in the making. While working the races at a local racetrack and responding to a wreck, Harold fell from the rescue truck. He was transported to an area hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
As in life, Harold continued to save lives after his death. His organs were donated to Gift of Life so that others may continue their time with their loved ones.
After losing a friend and brother, and seeing the tremendous support pour in from area departments, departments from neighboring states, and even departments from across the country we were humbled. It was then that we learned of foundations designed to help families continue after losing loved ones that have served in the fire service. That is when we, now the Lt. Harold Curtis Jr. Foundation, decided that we would like to do this as well, in Harold's name, to honor him and also give to others in need.
Projects have included:
Assist a firefighter following a shoulder surgery with bills while off work
Assist a firefighter following a stomach surgery with bills while off work
Assist a firefighter following a broken leg with home heating (chord wood)
Assist a firefighter with gas money to attend therapy following Cancer treatment
Assist a local Fire Department with building a garage their firefighter following a car accident that resulted in paralysis

What we do
So far the foundation has held events to raise money to support firefighters and medical responders in need. The major event being the Lt. Harold Curtis Memorial Golf Outing. Funds are used to make monetary donations to the families of fallen firefighters/EMTs, firefighters/EMTs that have been injured, or fallen on hard times as well as provide a vehicle for grant applications. We are limited to helping firefighters/EMTs, and families of firefighters/EMTs who serve in South West Michigan at this time but as we grow so will our assistance.
